A quiet ten minutes before the day starts moving. The kettle just off the boil, the whisk in hand, the small green cloud rising in the bowl. It's less a drink than a pause you build into the morning on purpose.
The bowls here are thrown by hand in small Japanese kilns, so each one sits a little differently in the palm. The chasen, chashaku, and kusenaoshi alongside them are made the same way, by hand, meant to be used daily rather than kept on a shelf.
